Leonard Boniface : News Story 2 - 'A very modern conference'
Written on Thursday 17th August at 12:45EST

One of the things that makes the AIDS 2006 experience a lot better is the excellent facilities provided for the participants. They include full internet access and rooms for workshop and activity sessions – all of which are of a very high standard.

One of the delegates, Mehere Melles, 20, who is originally from Ethiopia but now lives in Washington in the US, congratulated the organisers for the wonderful job they have done in ensuring the conference has been well arranged. She says, “Everything here is fantastic, very systematical. It’s easy to access the internet which is good for sending feedback to those at home. It also makes it very easy to search for contacts.”

She added, “Everything has been really well planned: the organisers deserve a lot of credit. There are many volunteers who are all good in helping people access what they need. The Global Village is a really amazing place where there are countless activities and an abundance of information. People from all over the world can come together – and that is important.”

She continues, “Thousands of people are here, sharing their experiences and learning what one another are doing in their own communities.”

This has been one of the most technologically advanced AIDS conferences to date. All delegates’ details are organised on computers and it’s easy to access all the programmes and conferences taking place during the day – as they’re all online
